Ingredients
Scale
Basic Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup flour
Liquids
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Flavorings and Seasonings
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Make the Roux: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour and stir constantly for 1-2 minutes to form a roux, which is a smooth, thick paste used as the base for the sauce.
- Add Liquids: Gradually pour in the milk and heavy cream while whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Continue whisking until the mixture is smooth and begins to thicken.
- Season the Sauce: Stir in the minced garlic, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook the sauce for an additional 2-3 minutes while stirring constantly to develop the garlic flavor and thicken the sauce to your liking.
- Finish the Sauce: Remove the saucepan from the heat and mix in the grated Parmesan cheese until it’s fully incorporated, creating a creamy, cheesy garlic sauce ready to use.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor boost.
- Adjust the thickness by adding more milk or letting the sauce cook longer if needed.
- This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Warm the sauce gently before using if it has been refrigerated, as it may thicken.
- Perfect as a topping for white pizzas or as a dipping sauce for breadsticks.
