Ingredients
Scale
For the Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
For Garnish
- Chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Prepare the chicken: Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for uniform cooking. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Rub the seasoning blend evenly over both sides of the chicken.
- Sear the chicken: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and sear for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- Make the sauce: Reduce heat to medium and add chicken broth, Dijon mustard, and honey to the same skillet. Stir to combine and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Simmer for 2–3 minutes to meld flavors.
- Finish the sauce: Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Continue simmering for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened and creamy.
- Combine and serve: Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon the sauce over the breasts, and simmer gently for 2–3 minutes until heated through. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta to soak up the creamy sauce.
- For extra richness and depth of flavor, add a splash of white wine before adding the chicken broth.
- Leftovers reheat well and can be used as a delicious sandwich filling or atop a fresh salad.
