Ingredients
Scale
Salmon
- 2 ½ lbs salmon filet, sliced into 2-inch wide slices
Teriyaki Sauce
- 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- â…“ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large or 3 medium garlic cloves, minced
- 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger or ½ teaspoon ground ginger
Garnish
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
- Green onion, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Grease a large rimmed baking sheet by covering it with foil and then applying grease for easier clean-up. Preheat your oven to 400ËšF (200ËšC).
- Make Teriyaki Sauce: In a bowl, combine the teriyaki sauce, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, white vinegar, sesame oil, light brown sugar, minced garlic, and freshly grated ginger. Stir well until the brown sugar has completely dissolved, creating a smooth marinade.
- Marinate Salmon: Place the salmon slices into a mixing bowl and pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over them. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let the salmon marinate for 20 minutes, either at room temperature or refrigerated, to absorb the flavors.
- Bake Salmon: Transfer the marinated salmon slices onto the prepared baking sheet, reserving the excess marinade. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 12-16 minutes, depending on thickness, until the salmon is flaky and cooked through.
- Thicken Sauce: While the salmon bakes, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat.
- Serve: Once the salmon is baked, remove it from the oven and brush each piece generously with the thickened teriyaki glaze. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
- Marinating the salmon for at least 20 minutes helps infuse it with rich flavor, but avoid marinating for too long as the acid in the vinegar can start to cook the fish.
- If you prefer a thicker glaze, simmer the marinade longer until your desired consistency is reached.
- To make cleanup easier, lining the baking sheet with foil is recommended.
- Serve with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables for a complete meal.
