Description

Enjoy the sweet and refreshing taste of homemade Strawberry Sorbet with this easy recipe. Made with fresh strawberries, this dairy-free dessert is perfect for a hot summer day or as a light treat any time of year.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Simple Syrup:

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

For the Sorbet:

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries (hulled)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to make a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  2. Prepare the Sorbet Base: In a blender or food processor, purée the strawberries until smooth. Add the cooled simple syrup, lemon juice, and salt, then blend again until fully combined.
  3. Strain the Mixture: Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl to remove seeds if desired.
  4. Chill the Mixture: Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  5. Churn the Sorbet: Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until thick and slushy.
  6. Freeze the Sorbet: Transfer the churned sorbet to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

Notes

  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish, freeze for 30 minutes, then stir with a fork. Repeat every 30 minutes until frozen and fluffy.
  • For an adult twist, add a splash of vodka or strawberry liqueur before churning to keep it scoopable.
