Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
Fresh Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- 4–5 fresh strawberries, finely chopped
Other Ingredients
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (unsalted and xylitol-free)
- 1 tablespoon water (optional, for consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and facilitate easy cleanup.
- Mash the Banana: In a medium bowl, mash the ripe banana thoroughly until it becomes a smooth, creamy base for the dough.
- Combine Ingredients: Add the finely chopped strawberries, rolled oats, and peanut butter to the mashed banana. Mix everything until a thick, cohesive dough forms. If the mixture feels too dry, incorporate a tablespoon of water to reach the desired consistency.
- Shape the Bites: Scoop small spoonfuls of the dough and roll each into bite-sized balls. For a firmer, crispier treat, flatten them slightly before baking.
- Bake: Arrange the shaped bites on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are spaced slightly apart. Bake in the oven for 15–18 minutes or until they turn golden brown and are slightly firm to the touch.
- Cool and Store: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack. Store the bites in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week, or freeze to keep them longer.
Notes
- Always use peanut butter that is free from xylitol as it is toxic to dogs.
- You can substitute blueberries or other safe fruits for strawberries to vary the flavor.
- These treats are intended as a snack and should not replace your dog’s regular diet.
