Description
These Slow-Cooked Beef Pizza Burgers are a cheesy twist on pizza night, made with ground beef, bell pepper, onion, and Italian seasonings, all cooked to perfection in a slow cooker.
Ingredients
Scale
Ground Beef Mixture:
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
Additional Ingredients:
- 1 (15-ounce) can pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 6 hamburger buns
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook Ground Beef Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, green bell pepper, and onion until browned and softened, about 8–10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Transfer to Slow Cooker: Transfer the mixture to a slow cooker. Stir in pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Assemble: Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Place the top bun on. Serve warm.
Notes
- You can add chopped pepperoni or cooked sausage for more classic pizza flavor.
- For crispier buns, toast them with a little butter in a skillet.
- This recipe also works well served open-faced under the broiler to melt the cheese.
