Pecan Pie Filling:

  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1–2 tablespoons heavy cream (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Cake: Preheat oven. Prepare pans. Whisk dry ingredients. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in sour cream. Alternate dry ingredients and milk. Fold in pecans. Bake and cool.
  2. Pecan Pie Filling: Combine ingredients in saucepan. Cook and cool.
  3. Frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese. Add sugar, vanilla, and cream. Beat until fluffy.
  4. Assembly: Layer cake, frosting, and pecan pie filling. Chill before serving.
