Description

These Homemade Cinnamon Sugar Twists are a delightful treat made with puff pastry, butter, cinnamon, and sugar, baked to golden perfection. They are great for snacking or as a sweet dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

Butter Mixture:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Additional:

  • Flour for dusting
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting or icing for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Pastry: Lightly flour a work surface and unfold the puff pastry sheet. Roll it out gently to smooth any creases.
  3. Make Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with vanilla extract (if using).
  4. Create Cinnamon Sugar Mix: In a separate bowl, stir together the cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
  5. Assemble Twists: Brush the entire surface of the puff pastry with melted butter, then evenly sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture, pressing it lightly into the dough. Fold the puff pastry in half lengthwise, then roll lightly to seal.
  6. Cut and Twist: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice into 1-inch wide strips. Twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

  • Serve with cream cheese glaze or vanilla icing for dipping.
  • Best enjoyed warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • You can double the batch using two puff pastry sheets.
