Description

Indulge in the heavenly delight of this easy-to-make Heaven on Earth Cake. Layers of angel food cake, cherry pie filling, and creamy vanilla pudding come together to create a delectable trifle that will impress your guests and satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 box angel food cake mix (baked according to package instructions)

For the Layers:

  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • Sliced almonds and maraschino cherries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bake the Angel Food Cake: Prepare the angel food cake as directed on the box and let it cool completely. Cut the cake into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Make the Pudding Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until thickened. Stir in the sour cream until smooth.
  3. Layer the Trifle: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the cubed angel food cake. Spoon half of the cherry pie filling over the cake. Pour and spread half of the pudding mixture over the cherry layer. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake cubes, cherry filling, and pudding mixture.
  4. Top and Chill: Spread whipped topping over the dessert, cover it, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set. Before serving, garnish with sliced almonds and maraschino cherries if desired.
