- 1 cup Guinness stout
- 1/2 cup beef broth

- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
For the mashed potato topping:
- 2 pounds potatoes (peeled and cubed)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and carrots. Sauté until softened. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and flour; pour in Guinness and beef broth. Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened. Stir in peas.
- Boil potatoes until tender, then mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
- Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, create texture with a fork, sprinkle with cheese. Bake until golden and bubbly.
