Cake:
- 1 cup Guinness stout beer
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 2 large eggs

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Frosting:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper.
- Mix beer and butter: In a saucepan, combine Guinness and butter over medium heat until butter melts. Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until smooth. Let cool.
- Combine wet ingredients: In a bowl, whisk sour cream, eggs, and vanilla. Mix in the chocolate mixture.
- Add dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Combine with wet mixture.
- Bake: Pour batter into pan and bake for 45–50 minutes. Cool completely.
- Prepare frosting: Beat cream cheese until smooth, add powdered sugar, then beat in heavy cream until fluffy. Frost the cake.
