Ingredients
Scale
Burger Patties
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Sandwich Assembly
- 8 slices cheddar cheese
- 8 slices bread (Texas toast or thick sandwich bread)
- 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
- Optional toppings: sliced pickles, red onion, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, or mustard
Instructions
- Preheat Grill or Pan: Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat to ensure the patties cook evenly with a nice sear.
- Form and Season Patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape each into patties slightly larger than the bread slices. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Grill Patties: Place patties on the grill and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach your preferred doneness. Once cooked, set them aside and keep warm.
- Butter Bread Slices: Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice to promote browning and crispiness during grilling.
- Assemble Sandwiches in Skillet: Place 4 buttered bread slices, butter side down, onto a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Layer each with a slice of cheddar cheese, a grilled burger patty, another slice of cheese, and then top with a second bread slice butter side up.
- Grill Sandwiches: Cook the assembled sandwiches for 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula to encourage melting and golden crust formation, until the bread is crisp and cheese is melted.
- Serve: Serve the grilled cheese burgers hot with your choice of optional toppings such as pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, or mustard.
Notes
- Customize with different cheese varieties like pepper jack or Swiss for varied flavors.
- Add cooked bacon or sautéed onions inside the sandwich for extra savory depth.
- For smaller portions or party servings, use slider buns and mini burger patties.
