Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients:
- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.
- Stir in the rice and toast for 1–2 minutes to lightly coat it in the butter and garlic.
- Pour in the chicken broth, add salt and pepper, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15–18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork, then stir in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted and combined.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, stir in a splash of heavy cream or a tablespoon of cream cheese along with the Parmesan.
- You can substitute vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
