For the Baked Beans:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) pork and beans
- 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Cook the bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the beef: In the same skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion until browned. Add the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Combine ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the beef mixture, beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and spices. Stir well.
- Bake: Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a smokier flavor, use hickory-smoked bacon and smoked barbecue sauce.
- You can also make this recipe in a slow cooker on low for 4 to 5 hours.
