Cake:
- 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
Caramel Layer:
- 11-ounce bag caramels (unwrapped)
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk (divided)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Toppings:
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the instructions on the box.
- Bake and Layer: Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 15 minutes. Melt the caramels with 1/4 cup of evaporated milk, then pour the caramel mixture over the warm cake after the initial bake.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle chopped pecans and chocolate chips over the caramel layer.
- Finish Baking: Pour the remaining cake batter on top and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Cool before serving.
