Chicken Stroganoff:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced into strips

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra richness)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Chopped parsley for garnish
- Cooked egg noodles or rice for serving
Instructions
- Cook the Chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken strips, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5–6 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Sauté Onion and Mushrooms: In the same skillet, add the onion and mushrooms, cooking for 5–6 minutes until softened and lightly golden. Stir in the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Create the Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir well to coat. Gradually pour in the chicken broth while stirring, then add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Finish the Dish: Reduce heat to low and stir in the sour cream and heavy cream (if using). Return the chicken to the pan and cook for another 2 minutes until heated through.
- Serve: Serve over egg noodles or rice and garnish with chopped parsley.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
- This dish can also be made with leftover cooked chicken—just stir it in at the end to heat through.
