Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Base and Cheeses
- 1 refrigerated pizza dough or pre-baked pizza crust
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Protein Toppings
- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup cooked breakfast sausage, crumbled
Vegetables and Seasoning
- 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped green onion
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for a crispy crust and perfectly cooked toppings.
- Prepare Dough: If using refrigerated pizza dough, roll it out on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer the dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet for easy cleanup and even baking.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Lightly brush the surface of the pizza dough with olive oil to help create a golden crust and add subtle flavor.
- Add Cheese: Evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent dripping.
- Create Wells for Eggs: Using the back of a spoon, make four small indentations in the cheese; these will hold the eggs during baking.
- Add Eggs: Carefully crack one large egg into each of the cheese wells, taking care not to break the yolks if you prefer them slightly runny.
- Add Toppings: Sprinkle the crumbled cooked bacon, breakfast sausage, diced red bell pepper, and chopped green onion evenly over the pizza. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Bake: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the egg whites are set but yolks remain slightly runny.
- Rest & Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2 to 3 minutes to allow the toppings to settle. Slice into four servings and enjoy your hearty breakfast pizza.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon and sausage and substitute with sautéed mushrooms or spinach.
- If you prefer fully cooked yolks, scramble the eggs before adding them to the pizza.
