Description

A comforting Amish Country Casserole featuring tender egg noodles, savory ground beef, and a creamy blend of mushroom and tomato soups, baked to golden perfection and topped with melted cheddar cheese for a hearty family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 pound egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of tomato soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the casserole later.
  2. Cook Noodles: Boil the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Brown Meat and Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef along with diced onion and minced garlic until beef is browned and onions are softened; drain excess fat from the skillet.
  4. Combine Soups and Seasoning: Stir in cream of mushroom soup, cream of tomato soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and well combined.
  5. Mix in Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and gently stir to coat the noodles evenly with the sauce mixture.
  6. Prepare for Baking: Transfer the noodle and beef mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is golden brown.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley before serving for an added fresh flavor and color.

Notes

  • This casserole can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated prior to baking to save time on busy days.
  • For variation, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or ground sausage to change the flavor profile.
  • Serve alongside a fresh side salad or steamed green beans to complete the meal.
